Reflexology

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a healing art and a science based on the principle that there are reflex areas in the hands and feet that correspond to all the glands, organs and parts of the body. By properly applying pressures and compression using the thumbs, fingers and hands to the reflexes, circulation is stimulated and improved, nerve tension is relieved throughout the body and normal balanced healthy functioning is encouraged.

Reflexology is deeply relaxing, allowing the body and mind to release accumulated stresses and tensions which in turn activates healing and vitality. Reflexology is a way to consciously realize and recognize the cause and effect that our thinking, emotions, attitudes and lifestyle behaviors have upon the dynamic functions of the physical body systems.

Therapeutically, reflexology can resolve many health problems by serving as a safe, natural form of preventative maintenance. It can be used with any medical or complementary alternative therapy. Suitable for all ages, sessions can be tailored to the needs of the individuals. Children have been found to be particularly receptive to reflexology for emotional and physical health and well being.

Reflexology balances, normalizes and improves the body's vitality. Reflexology is a serious advance in the health care field. It should not be confused with massage. As a therapy the essence of reflexology is that it focuses on health first and foremost not on illiness or disease: the profound, significant meaning of health to each of us, the mind / body / spirit's own natural restorative and rehabilitative healing potential and the balance that must be achieved in order to be sound and whole.

Reflexology is recognized by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM). It is considered a valuable therapy in many hospitals, hospices and Cancer centers as it provides pain management, relief of symptoms and provides for better quality of health and life.
